Chances are you were once so angry you didn’t even know what to do.

It started off as something small, then you held it in.

One by one your buttons started to get pushed and boom! You exploded.

Anger is normal, expected in fact. The issue comes when we the earth being triggered by every little event and blowing up at every single person. Or not knowing what to do with that build up anger.

Or in the rare case, feeling ashamed of your emotion(anger in this case).

Anger is an emotion. Like many other ones. It has pros, cons, and usages.

You were probably taught anger is wrong. And like mentioned before, no one recommends you explode whenever someone steps over your shoes.

Anger is a very misunderstood emotion; one of its function is to motivate.

But, if left unmonitored can cause chaos in your life with your friends, work, etc.

One of the issue is we were taught NOT to feel angry. And we learn to reject our own anger.

But, anger is something that can be harnessed. And when done properly can be a fuel to aid one in accomplishing goals.

Imagine a hunter who would go hunting for zebras. He would throw a spear and miss.

Says to himself “I can’t do this, I quit.” Then goes home and twiddles his thumb.

Now, let’s imagine another hunter.

This hunter throws a spear at a zebra. But, this hunter does something differently.

After throwing the spear the hunger gets upset. So upset, he blames the zebra.

This fuels his motivation to keep throwing more and more spears.

The hunter’s mindset is “I am going to get this zebra even if kills me. How dare it dodge my spear?

It should just stand still and let me hit with this sharp spear, so that I can feed my wife and kids.”

The hunter goes back home with meat and a very happy family.

In this case, the hunter took his anger and channeled it in the direction of his desires.

Rationally speaking, it seems silly. Very silly in fact. But the question is – Does it work?

Anger is a human emotion and it has usages especially in survival based situations.

Today we are not throwing spears. 

We are using our brains to complete task. Task that will help us gain more income, status, etc.

Let’s go back to why anger became an issue in the first place.

Most likely mommy or daddy (or whomever) said “Don’t get angry right now.”

Our young brains interpreted this as:

“Anger is bad. Anger is wrong. Why do I get angry? What’s wrong with me?”

Were they correct? Quite possibly, yes. Maybe it wasn’t the right time to become angry.

But, the issue becomes we become confused on how to handle our own emotions.

So confused we suppressed ourselves and dismiss many parts of ourselves.

I know this article is about anger but this addresses every other emotion as well.

We must learn to handle every single emotion to become fully integrated beings.

Anger is emotion that is very confusing for most folks. It’s a very unattractive one. For many good reasons.

In today’s world getting angry is almost a sign of weakness.

It can be. A lot of times displaying anger is a sign of immaturity. It shows that one is unable to properly conduct themselves. It shows they aren’t able to keep their cool. And in short it looks rather childish.

However, there are moments where one must learn to get angry. Get angry and then do something with it. Life frustrates us so we can do something about it.
