I’m not against religion.
I have the Bible. I like the Bible. My father reads the Bible. My mom goes to church.
So this is not about attacking people for having faith.
What I reject is the idea that religion should be integrated into politics and used to control public law.
Even if someone believes God makes the rules, humans are still the ones interpreting those rules. A pastor, politician, judge, or activist can say, “God said this,” but how do we verify that in a public system?
That is where things get dangerous.
Once someone claims to speak for God, their personal interpretation can suddenly get treated like divine authority. Then everyone else is expected to live under it, even if they do not believe the same thing.
That is not freedom.
Faith can guide your personal life.
But law affects everyone.
Public law should be based on evidence, rights, consent, human dignity, the common good, and reality. In other words, things we can actually verify and apply fairly across society.
Separation of church and state does not destroy religion.
It protects everyone.
Believe what you want.
Worship how you want.
But the state should not enforce one group’s theology on everyone else.
