Why Do I Focus So Much on Christian Nationalists and Theocrats?
I focus so much on Christian nationalists and theocrats because they represent an immediate threat to secular government and religious freedom.
The far right includes factions attempting to merge their particular religious doctrine with government power. They do not merely want the freedom to practice their religion. They want their religious worldview reflected in public law and imposed on everyone else.
That includes atheists, agnostics, members of other religions, progressive Christians, and even conservative Christians who reject their political movement.
Once a religious faction claims divine authority over the country, everyone outside that faction becomes “the other.” They may be treated as immoral, heretical, hostile, or even dangerous simply because they refuse to submit. The political framework becomes binary: you are either with the movement or against it.
And in one sense, that conflict is real. America has a secular government. That means the government does not belong to Christianity, atheism, or any other belief system. It protects everyone’s right to believe, worship, change religions, or practice no religion at all.
Christian nationalism threatens that foundation because it seeks to replace equal citizenship with religious hierarchy. Under that system, one faction’s beliefs receive government power while everyone else’s freedom depends on whether the ruling faction tolerates them.
That is why I focus on Christian nationalism and theocracy. This is not about attacking Christians or Christianity. It is about opposing any religious faction that attempts to seize the government and impose its doctrine on the entire country.
Religious domination benefits only the faction seeking to impose its doctrine.
