Kanakadhara Stotram – Meaning & Benefits – The Wealth Manifestation Mantra

How Kanakadhara Stotram Can Help You Attract Wealth

We’ve all been at some point in our lives where we’re just not able to get the wealth we think we deserve.

In several religions, it is believed that spiritual growth helps you to attain that wealth. Not only does it bring a lot of peace, but it also ensures that you reach that position where worldly matters don’t seem like the ultimate goal. Kanakadhara Stotram is one such hymn. It is a song of praise for the mythical goddess Lakshmi sung by Adi Sankara. The inspiring rhythmic utterance brings spiritual peace and ensures that you remain calm and composed. Kanakadhara Stotram was a hymn written by Adi Sankara in the 8th century. Adi Sankara spent his entire life being devoted to God and began renunciation when he was only a child of 8 years old.

The story goes something like this; Shri Adi Shankaracharya, as a young boy, was begging so that he could have something to eat. He went to a Brahmin lady who was not well-off herself. She had barely any means go suffice her own needs and couldn’t find anything for herself either. She searched and searched, only to find a sole gooseberry. Now, despite having nothing for her own self, she offered the berry to Adi Shankaracharya. This made him pity the poor woman who had so little in this world and still offered all of it to him.

He was delighted by the generosity and kindness of the lady that he composed and sung several hymns including Kanakadhara Stotram singing the praises of the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. He was so devoted and honest that she came to him to ask why he had remembered her. Adi Shankaracharya pleaded Lakshmi to grant the woman, who had offered him the gooseberry, with several riches.

Goddess Lakshmi denied by saying that the woman hadn’t done anything useful to help the poor in her former life. Adi Shankaracharya repeatedly pleaded her and by seeing his devotion, she blessed the poor with gold gooseberries.

Thus, to conclude from the story, we can easily say that generosity and affection are emotions that can truly help a person escape worldly pleasures.

Meaning and Benefits:

The hymns sung by Adi Shankaracharya instantly gained popularity among faithful Hindus and thus, it was given the name of Kanakadhara Stotram which translates to ‘the poem which facilitates in the flow of wealth’. ‘Kanaka’ meaning Gold, ‘Dhara’ referring to Flow and Stotram translates to a poem. It is believed that memorizing and reciting this poem out loud, ensures that you are blessed with riches and opulence.

Mantras can be defined as rhythmic utterances which help your body to relax and unwind. They are often in tune with the body’s movements and thus result in helping you feel lighter. Several religions apart from Hinduism, have similar mantras which once spoken offer an abundance of peace and help you acquire wealth such as the Philippians 4:19 of the Bible or the Sahih Al-Bukhari #1982.

However, it’s true that only a single mantra won’t bring luxury to your life. You should be devoted, compassionate and kind enough to earn and reap the rewards. Whether you believe in these mantras or not, You should trust God, regardless and have faith that he only has the power to provide you with wealth and prosperity. Kanakadhara Stotram can thus be of immense help if you want to attain that level of spiritual consciousness.

Chanting mantras or praying to God brings out the positive energy from your soul and helps you to indulge in activities that are beneficial for your intellect. You will be able to seize opportunities that come your way. Meditation at a peaceful spot right in the early morning, can also be a great way to start your day as it helps you to begin the day on a positive note. This changes your attitude towards life and provides you with a different perspective.

By chanting prayers, you will be able to push all that negative energy away and focus on the brighter side of things. This constructive side of yourself will not only help you achieve your goals faster, but will also allow you to be more compassionate towards others.

These will also help you get over stress and strain or even anxiety that affects the mental and physical state of several people. Chanting helps people to have the sincerity and willingness to use spiritual teachings in our daily lives. The generosity of that poor woman tells us that kindness means everything and it can change the face of the modern society.
